Marjorie Lee Hood, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, in Wheeling, West Virginia. Born on October 5, 1933, in St. Clairsville, Ohio, Marjorie lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 92.
Marjorie dedicated many years of her professional life as an accountant with the Stone and Thomas department store in Wheeling. She later worked as an administrative assistant at a private dental practice in Shadyside, Ohio. She devoted many of her retirement years as a secretary for The Shadyside High School Alumni Association.
A faithful member of The Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church in Shadyside, Marjorie found immense joy participating in the church choir. For a number of years, Marjorie's father (Charlie) and daughter, Leslie, sang alongside her. Marjorie cherished her time with The Four Leaf Clover and bible study classes, where she formed lasting friendships within her beloved Shadyside community. A talented seamstress, Marjorie found joy in jitterbug dancing, road trips, as well as word and jigsaw puzzles.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruby (Newlon) Crumbaker, her husband, Edward Alan Hood, and their daughter, Leslie Ann Pielech. She leaves behind her daughter, Robin Lynn (Joe) Spivla, as well as five grandchildren and six great-grand children, who will carry on her legacy. She is also survived by three nieces and two nephews, all of whom will remember Marjorie with love and affection.
In keeping with the family's wishes, funeral and burial services will be private at this time. A joint memorial service to celebrate her life and that of her husband will take place in Rhode Island at a later date.
