RICHARD MIDEI

Richard Allen Midei, 78, of Rayland, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2026.

Rick is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Spanner) Midei; his son, Jeremy Midei; his daughter-in-law, Arrin (Niedenthal) Midei; and his beloved granddaughter, Alexandra Midei. He is also survived by many special cousins on both the Midei and Camillozzi sides of his family, as well as the Spanner family, whom Rick lovingly embraced as his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo Midei and Yolanda (Camillozzi) Midei.

Rick treasured the life he built with his family. He and Mary Jo shared 57 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories, including many wonderful trips. He also deeply valued the friendships he built, and the time spent in the company of good friends. He especially cherished being with his granddaughter, Alex, who lovingly called him Nonno and learned to share his love of Westerns.

Rick was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiltonsville, where he sang in the church choir for many years. A business owner in the community since 1972, he spent more than five decades serving and getting to know generations of customers, neighbors, and friends. Outside of work, Rick had a lifelong love of model trains, a hobby he enjoyed for more than 50 years, and he was a devoted Pittsburgh sports fan who faithfully followed the Steelers and Pirates.

Rick will be remembered as a storyteller. He had a story for nearly every occasion and continued sharing them until the very end. His stories, memories, and the way he told them became a part of who he was and will remain a treasured part of the memories hisfamily carries forward.

Rick's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Valley Hospice for exceptional and compassionate care they provided to Rick and his family.
