ROLAND SWIFT

Roland Swift, age 94 of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Jackson Care Center. He was born on May 16, 1932, in Athens, Ohio to the late Dana and Leah Swift.

For 23 years of his life, Roland lived in Marietta, Ohio. He also lived in Belmont County for many years where he raised his family. Roland served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War era where he received a Purple Heart. After his service in the military, he was a safety manager at Relco, as well as a quality control manager at several nuclear power plants. On the side, Roland also enjoyed woodworking in which he built two circus wagons, as well as a treasure chest and a cradle that is still being used in the newer generations of his family today.

He is survived by his son, Dana "David" (Mary Elizabeth) Swift; grandchildren, Heather, Jonathan, Christopher, Michelle, and Tiffany; along with 6 great-grand- children, 3 great great-grand children, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ethel (Monroe) Swift; his son, Robert Roger Swift; daughter, Mary Colleen (Swift) Springer; as well as his three brothers, Edwin Swift, William Swift, and Larry Joe Swift.

A celebration of life will be held from 11am-2pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the OO McIntyre Park in Gallipolis in the Bob White Shelter on top of the hill. A private family graveside will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
