She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on January 19, 1948, a daughter of the late Dorothy Ann Johnson Spano and Joseph Spano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Ray McMillen and a brother, Michael Spano; nephew, Christopher Spano; and a niece, Durrenda Spano-Lyknis.
