Larry Darrah, age 81, of Powhatan Point, OH, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV. He was born February 8, 1945, in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Ralph and Ila Mae Schnegg Darrah. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Widman Colbert (W.C.) Darrah, and a brother, Thomas L. Darrah. SGT (RET) James “Jim” Lester Garrett, 77, of Flushing, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville from 4-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio.

John Henry Hughes, 84, of Columbus, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at OSU Wexner Medical Center. He was born January 7, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late James Wesley Hughes and Mary Kostelia Hughes. A 1960 graduate of St. Clairsville High School, John was an Associate Professor of Medical Microbiology at The Ohio State University. Sara Sue Vavra, 85, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Wheeling Hospital. There will be no visitation. Born on June 30, 1938, in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph Bonfini and Mina Trigg Early. Rose Mary dedicated many years of her professional life to serving as a legal secretary for Craig Aalyson Attorney At Law, where she was known for her diligence and attention to detail. Shirley Ann Wilhelm, 90, of Morristown, Ohio, died Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Wheeling Hospital. She was born July 19, 1935, in Morristown, a daughter of the late Velma Marie McMillan Major and Oliver Cleveland Major. Shirley was a retired schoolteacher having taught at Centerville Elementary and in the Columbus School District.
