Yorkville VFD holding spaghetti dinner

The Yorkville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at the fire hall.

Dinner includes spaghetti, meatballs, salsa, bread and beverage/ Dine in or carry out. Cost of dinner is $7 for adult and $4 for children. “Con Mama Val la Famosa Salsa”. (Come to the dinner for the translation). Call 859-2585

Recycling

The Village of Yorkville will sponsor its second Recycling Community presentation on Monday, April 2 at 6 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Diane Julio of the Jefferson-Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority’s JB Green Team will discuss recycle/reuse programs in the village and throughout the two counties. She will also be available to answer residents’ questions about recycling.

The JB Green Team has been a welcome partner in the village’s efforts to decrease the amount of waste unnecessarily ending up in landfills and has provided grant money to assist the village in its recycle projects.

All residents are urged to attend. Please contact the mayor or any council member for further information.

A Day of Honor

Each month, the members of the Rush Run Community Chapel located at 1983 County Rd. 17, Rayland, honor a group of people who make a difference in the lives of those in the Ohio Valley. On Sunday, April 1, at the 11 a.m. service, Hairdressers and Barbers in the area are being honored. A luncheon will be served after the chapel service.

Relay for Life

On April 5 the Family Ties Team will sponsor a card party at Buckeye Local High School. Call Jennifer Brown at 740- 391-3244 for tickets and more information. Please join the Family Ties Team as they work to find a cure.

On April 15 a Longaberger Basket Bingo will be held at Buckeye Local High School.

Doors open at noon – Bingo starts at 1 p.m.. Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance or $25 at the door. Sixteen baskets and numerous door prizes will be awarded. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and proceeds benefit a great cause. For tickets contact any Relay Team member or call Carol Webb at 769-7395 or 546-4005.

WT Gazebo Project

Public officials from Yorkville, Tiltonsville and Rayland along with those from the Warren Township Trustees, the Warren Township Park Commission and the Warren Township Lions Club met on Tuesday, March 13 to continue their collaborative effort to erect a gazebo at the WT Park. The Lions continue to accept donations from individuals and businesses. If you would like further information or to make a donation, please contact Roger Warren at 859-4479.

Correction

In a recent column, credit was given to Nick Haskakis for painting the Yorkville High School Alumni Room at the city building. Rather it was Luke Haskakis who volunteered his time and service to complete this project. A big thanks and apology to Luke!

Wizard of OZ

Mark your calendar to attend the BLHS production of the Wizard of Oz scheduled for March 29-30-31 at 7:00 in the High School auditorium. Under the direction of music teacher, Teresa Cybulski, it will feature drama students and select staff. Call 859-2196 for further details.
