CHEERS to the Puskarich Public Library, Cadiz, for helping to preserve Harrison County’s mining heritage. It is seeking help from the community in this effort and has launched a new
website for the Harrison County History of Coal Museum.
JEERS to the flawed forensics testimony by specialized FBI examiners in hundreds of criminal prosecutions dating back decades because of some errors found in hair analysis. An
independent review of FBI laboratory protocols and
procedures has been pledged.
CHEERS to the Union Local Elementary School’s fifth grade team which earned first place in state competition for “Destination Imagination” and for having the opportunity to
compete in the Global Finals May 20-23. Members of the team,
which is the first team from Union Local to rank first in the state
are Jonathan Kemp, Kylie McGinnis, Sawyer Moore, Connor
Luyster, Ava Lucas, Tabitha Tomich and Dylan Morris, and team
managers are Mindy Harris, Heather Moore and Lilli Luyster.
CHEERS to two Shadyside residents, Samuel Duvall and Brian Tyler Davis, for being among the exemplary students receiving awards at Bethany College’s Honors Day Convocation.
CHEERS to the Ohio Department of Transportation for its efforts to provide better traffic flow at the Interstate 470/Ohio 7 interchange. A temporary traffic signal is planned next month,
and it will be followed during the summer by permanent remedies.
