Create a fair map

If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission are in need of a mental health break. For a third time the Ohio Supreme Court has had to tell them they could not slip unconstitutional Ohio Statehouse district maps through. Commission members have now been asked to take a fourth crack at drawing constitutional, fair maps.

Commissioners are running out of time to do right by Ohioans, and they know it. They have been ordered to submit legal maps to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose by March 28. LaRose is desperately trying to coordinate a May 3 primary election, but the Redistricting Commission has repeatedly refused to do its job.

This is a job that was supposed to be completed last fall.

Redistricting Commission members are intentionally ignoring their responsibility to Ohioans and endangering the May 3 primary election. It is difficult to fathom the reason for their behavior.

Certainly at this point they are doing no favors to those who consider themselves to be Republicans, either.
