Cheers & Jeers

CHEERS to the Belmont County Board of Commissioners for working to accommodate the public by scheduling an evening meeting where more people will have the opportunity to discuss issues at the animal shelter.

JEERS to what appear to be a string of thefts and criminal activity in Monroe County. This month’s grand jury indicted a number of people on charges related to theft.

CHEERS to organizers of Boo on the Bike Trail, where it seemed that adults were able to scare up a great deal of fun for the costumed little ones who attended. The event was also educational.

JEERS to the need for Franciscan University of Steubenville to offer a “safe haven” for Jewish students who are facing fear and persecution at other colleges. Those facing antisemitism are invited to transfer.

CHEERS to the St. Clairsville Red Devils Marching Band for its accomplishments this season, including qualifying for state and national competitions. Good luck to the members as they continue their hard work!

CHEERS to area residents who intend to hand out candy and welcome friends and neighbors during trick or treat sessions scheduled throughout the Ohio Valley over the next few days.

CHEERS to news that Salt Fork State Park will be home to a new, interactive Eco-Discovery Center. Ground was broken for the project Monday.
