Cheers & Jeers
CHEERS to Jeremy Pasztor, winner of the Ohio Valley Mall’s Small Shop Showdown contest. His business, Holey Rollers Donuts, will receive free rent for a space at the mall through May 20.
JEERS to the fact that Martins Ferry city leaders found that bids for repairs to the city building were too vague. Hopefully bidders can provide more details.
CHEERS to Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library on its 100 th anniversary of serving the village and the surrounding community. A special open house marked the date on Sept. 23.
JEERS to word that deer just across the Ohio River in Ohio County are succumbing to an illness suspected to be epizootic hemorrhagic disease. Dry conditions are believed to be at the root of the problem.
CHEERS to all the students who have been named to local high schools’ homecoming courts. Congratulations on being considered for royal spots, and good luck to those who remain in the running.
CHEERS to news that Flushing village crews will again be able to read residents’ water meters soon. An equipment and software failure put those tasks on hold throughout the summer.
CHEERS to the Democrat and Republican parties in Belmont County for opening headquarters where residents can ask questions and obtain signs and information.
