Cheers & Jeers

CHEERS to everyone who took the time to register to vote in the upcoming May 6 primary/special election. A few people have cast early, in-person ballots. The rest of us need to remember to vote on Election Day.

JEERS to the violent storms that caused damages and sparked power outages all across the local region. Any storm can be dangerous. Take warnings seriously.

CHEERS to Barnesville High School and Vitalant for again organizing the annual Blood Bash — an annually successful drive to collect needed blood donations. The 41st event happens 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 9 at BHS.

JEERS to the fact that Union Local’s school facilities have suffered some damage as they have aged. The district is seeking voters’ support of a levy that would aim to correct some of those issues.

CHEERS to everyone who plans to participate in the Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend on May 24-25. From the Tiny Tot Trot to the Half-Marathon Classic and the Tough as Nails Urban Challenge, everyone can join in.
