Deputy Phil

Dear Editor,

I would like to take this opportunity to identify Mike Fischer, of the Deputy Phil Program, to the professional, religious and civic organizations serving Belmont County.

It is our priority to teach our children the concepts of safety. Safety not only involves learning how to avoid accidents, but also how to avoid becoming victims. Our children also need to learn about positive attitudes, values, respect for authority figures and the concept of private property.

Mike Fischer, of Creative Safety Products, is working to provide the Deputy Phil Child Safety Program for our kindergarten through fourth grade students. This program and its accompanying materials are part of an ongoing education process. Involvement by sheriff’s deputies, teachers and parents, reinforces the concepts presented therein.

Some of our communities will enjoy the benefits of the Deputy Phil Program for the first time and some have had the program already. We enthusiastically look forward to implementing this successful and valuable educational resource.

Together, we do make a difference. Educational resources such as Deputy Phil are part of our efforts to educate and protect Belmont County’s precious and promising resource: our children. Please take a moment to talk to Mike Fischer.

Sincerely,

Fred A. Thompson,

Belmont County Sheriff
