Foul Language

Dear Editor,

I want to share my thoughts and ideas.

Recently, I was eating at Applebee’s and was seated next to four young men, “30” something. As they were talking they used the “F” word just as one would use the word “and” in a conversation. Nice looking young men, they were. Not what would make you roll your eyes while thinking, “of course.”

I really did not want to hear their conversation just as I do not want to hear the person conversing on their cell phone while shopping. But this was not my choice.

My idea is, if there are signs posted in restaurants stating,”no smoking, and “no shirt, no shoes, no service”, then how about a sign stating,”no vulgar language”?

Surely we can take a step back to days when men had respect for those around them, “with a little reminder.” Lots of people do not talk this way, at least in public places.

Keep in mind this, all people, “if you are talking with folks who do swear and you do not, they will not notice, but if you are talking with people who do not swear and you do, they will surely notice.”

My next idea is to make copies of this letter, take them to restaurants I patronize and give one to the manager or owner of the establishment as a beginning of something good that could come about.

I ask you to join me in this effort.

Thank You,

Kathy Wilson
