Chuck Probst

Dear Editor:

In March of this past year, I started volunteering for the Belmont County Veterans Office.

I painted and did odd jobs to help them get ready to move into the building in Bellaire.

While I was working there I had the opportunity to talk to Belmont County Commissioner Chuck Probst and was really impressed with the concern he showed the veterans of Belmont County. I found out that he was the commissioner who began the Veterans Discount Program that provided veterans with a discount at local businesses.

He not only backed the Veterans Service Commission when it came to finding a handicap accessible building but he actively helped search for a place and went with members of the Veterans Office and Commission to look at several buildings before they found the one they purchased. He backed the Veterans Office when funding was needed to buy the building.

Over the years Chuck has made sure that he fought for the needs of the Veterans Office even when he was being opposed.

But what impressed me most about Chuck were the times he visited the building while renovations were taking place. He stopped to make sure they had everything they needed and not just once or twice but at least once a week to see how things were going. Being a veteran myself, that meant a lot to me. It’s nice to know that we have a county commissioner who appreciates the veterans of this county and the sacrifices they have made.

I have read the brochure put out by Chuck’s opponent and it mentions nothing about veterans.

I urge the veterans of Belmont County to vote for Chuck Probst for Belmont County Commissioner because he definitely has our back!
