Dear Editor,

As a resident of the 6th Congressional District and a member of the education community, I urge voters to continue to support our representative – Charlie Wilson.

Amid all the turmoil and allegations that all incumbents should be “tarred and feathered,” Charlie has continued to demonstrate his strong, common sense voice that he brought to the Ohio State Legislature many years ago.

Charlie has been a strong supporter of education throughout his public life. By recently voting for the Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act, he helped save 161,000 teachers’ jobs in America.

“These funds are needed immediately to prevent layoffs or actually rehire teachers,” Wilson stated. Ohio received enough funding to save 5,500 teachers jobs, while the National Education Association estimated that 369 teacher jobs have been saved in our district.

The money for the bill was paid for, in part, by closing a loophole that actually encouraged corporations to ship American jobs overseas. “I will support any measure that keeps our jobs right here at home,” Wilson added. “I’m proud that we’re saving teacher jobs and preventing other jobs from being sent out of this country.”

Education is the backbone of a strong economy. We continue to look for solutions to Ohio’s education funding problems. I know Charlie is working for us.
