A tribute to the late John Glenn
Dear Editor:
As the sun arose that fine day
I knew John Glenn would soon be on his way
I saw the look in his kind face
As he thought about his journey into space
He was worried about his trip
And what would happen to his fine ship
He stood there looking at the Friendship 7
Knowing it would soon be roaring into heaven
Friendship 7 is a worthy ship
From its roaring engine to its shiny tip
As the ship went roaring into space
There was a look of hope in everyone’s face
The capsule had landed — they know not the exact place
But two fine ships to his rescue raced
The men on the ships had made a crowd
Because of this brave man they were so proud
And when he stepped upon the deck
The doctors and officers took him for a check
To see if this brave man was A-OK
The man that circled the earth three times in one day.
P.S. He was A-OK
