Reader gives true facts of theory
Dear Editor,
The Sunday school pundit has shared yet another version of alternative facts with your readers — this time it’s a ratty conspiracy theory concerning “left wing Marxist progressives.”
He dubs them the “alt left,” a term invented by his fellow conspiracy lovers, and quotes Paul Sperry, a Fox News political commentator, regarding the Organization for Action. This, according to him, is a nefarious Obama-sponsored group dedicated to destroying the Trump presidency.
It actually is a 501(c)(4) policy issue advocacy group that has existed since 2013; Trump wasn’t even a topic when it was organized. The majority of people questioning Republicans at town halls have never even heard of the OAL.
He also quotes Sean Hannity, whose talk show antics have given him great credence with conspiracy theorists. According to Hannity, President Obama sent his Russian ambassador to meet with Putin before taking office in 2009. Funny thing about that — he wasn’t in office, so he did not have any ambassadors!
Perhaps this purveyor of alternative facts should spend more time on Sunday school and less on Fox News.
