Is NATO Cause for Ukraine War?

Dear Editor,

The war on Ukraine is a sad situation. We should be so thankful here in the U.S. that we have never had to endure this kind of persecution and displacement in our lifetimes.

And even sadder is that this might never have had to happen.

Unfortunately, many people in the U.S. seem to have the attitude that we can go about and do to the rest of the world as we please and they all should humbly bow to us as if we are God and master. The Russia/Ukraine situation is a prime example. Our current illustrious leader seems to have this lord-over-all mentality. Rather than try to be respectful of a fellow superpower leader and engage in meaningful dialog, he chooses rather to merely engage in destroying their economy, more than likely hurting the average citizen far more than any in leadership.

In considering this method, is there anyone out there who believes that if the tables were turned and Russia had imposed sanctions upon us, that we would allow it to destroy our resolve? I’d say that it would only make us more determined. We would stiffen and determine that they will not defeat us. I suspect the Russians will be no different. Also, without a doubt, Russia will be looking for ways and methods to retaliate, both now and in the future. And, as has happened in the past, I can hear our leaders asking Putin (the ex KGB agent) if he did it, making us the laughing stock of the world. Like do they think Putin is actually going to admit to it? How idiotic.

Anyhow, back to the subject at hand. Sadly, I suspect that if Donald Trump had been reinstated, the war in Ukraine would never have happen. DJT certainly wasn’t the sharpest tack in the box, but he was far more diplomatic. He showed respect for Putin and had somewhat of a dialog. I believe they could have talked it out unlike the mere bullying tactics being the only communication of the current administration.

Also, Trump was not a big supporter of NATO which is what I understand to be most of the problem Putin has with Ukraine. Putin does not want Ukraine to become a member. So what’s the big deal?

Drop the NATO alliance and save your people and your country.

Regardless, war is NEVER the answer and there are NEVER any real winners. I wish our leaders could learn that.
