Dear Editor,
The United Mine Workers of America recently held a memorial service at the Willow Grove Mine site in Neffs, Ohio, to honor 72 miners who lost their lives in an explosion on March 16, 1940.
On behalf of the UMWA I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation to all who supported us in making the event possible.
We also want to thank Ed DiOrio of WTOV-TV news and Ashley Kaiser of WTRF-TV news for covering the service and giving those who were unable to attend a way to remember what happened that tragic day.
