As a result of a number of recent Republican primary elections that perhaps indicate at long last the influence that former President Donald J. Trump has on his most recent political party (Republican) may well be on the wane.
Examples include that in the Republican primary race for governor of the state of Georgia, Brian Kemp, an object of considerable Trump derision, defeated challenger, and former Georgia senator David Perdue but an astounding margin of over 50 percentage points, although Mr. Perdue was strongly supported by Mr. Trump.
Also, Brad Raffensperger, who as secretary of state for the state of Georgia, was ordered by then-President Trump to somehow "find" Trump enough votes to give him the win in Georgia" in the 2020 presidential election, but Mr. Raffensperger chose to respect election laws and refused to do, which made him the object of severe criticism on the part of the former president, nevertheless defeated his opponent, Representative Jody Hice, whole the former president enthusiastically supported, by a "landslide" in the recent Georgia Republican primaries for secretary of state.
Therefore, it appears that although former President Trump continues to hold significant influence over his current political party (Republican), there are significant indications that the influence he now has over Republicans may well be not what it had been previously, as indicated by the less than impressive showings, and numerous defeats, on the part of candidates he had vigorously endorsed, and also that thus far in the Republican Primaries only approximately one-third of Republican voters have supported Trump-endorsed candidates.
Furthermore, the support of former president Trump is by no means based on the conservative credentials of the candidates, but rather for the support and praise they heap on Mr. Trump, personally.
It is all a "reward" for their ego-gratification of the former president.
Also, for the record no former president in the history of our great nation has ever willingly been so deeply involved in attempting to influence primary elections, as has former president Trump for what strongly appears to be simply for self ego-gratification.
It strongly appears that Mr. Trump has intentionally divided our country as it has not been since the Civil War for purely personal self-aggrandizement, and has even predicted the "coming of another Civil War" to return him, illegally, into power, which has been echoed by numerous political cohorts, including Republican Representative Madison Cawhorn, who was recently defeated in the recent Republican primary in North Carolina, who stated that "Dark MAGA was coming," as well as Trump sycophant Marjorie Taylor Greene, who recently won her Republican Congressional Primary in Georgia, who has shamelessly praised none other than Adolf Hitler.
Incredible, but sadly, not at all surprising, although, to say the least, very concerning.
