Give ’em hell, Joe
Dear Editor,
Give ’em Hell was usually a moniker reserved for Harry Truman. Now though, President Joe Biden has earned that Sobriquet even more than Harry. Give’m hell, Joe!
Joe has the Republicans sputtering, gasping and spitting due to Joe’s achievements in less than two years in office and with only 50 votes in the 100 seat Senate and a margin of only four in the House.
Starting with Foreign Policy, Joe has taken out the master planner of the 9/11 attack (Ayman Al-Jawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s second in comand), provided the arms and European support to help Ukraine fight Russia to a stand still inflecting very heavy damage on the Russians, and reconstituted NATO to once again be a 32 nation economic and military, mighty force. (Joe saved NATO that Trump tried to destroy.) Joe ended our longest (wasteful) war, Afghanistan.
Now let’s turn to the Domestic Policy blockbuster performances Joe has accomplished:
The American Rescue Plan: The ARC of 2021 is a $1.9 trillion coronavirus rescue package designed to facilitate the United States’ recovery from the devastating economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The package included direct stimulus payments of $1,400, extended unemployment compensation, continued the foreclosure moratoriums and continued the Child Tax Credits, etc.
COVID-19: In six months Joe helped get those adults vaccinated who were willing, and began the process whereby getting COVID for most of people was no longer life threatening. Joe’s pandemic intervention is estimated to have saved a million lives.
The Inflation Reduction Act: Joe got it done (without a single Republican in the Senate or House). $780 Billion to be spent on Climate Change and Health care (three year extension of the Affordable Care Act, $2,000 limit on prescriptions, and Medicare negotiation with big Pharm to reduce prices.)
Job Creation: Joe put America back to work, getting the unemployment rate down to levels not seen in 50years (3.5%). Joe’s first year was the greatest year of job creation in American history, with more than 6 million jobs created.
The US offshore wind industry: With a goal of 30 gigawatts by 2030, to save the overheating of the planet. We will see some new, enormous wind farms come on line in as little as four years, some of the biggest in the world.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act: Joe got the bipartisan $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed, which will among other things build out electric vehicle charging stations throughout the country and help schools buy electric buses, along with investments in bridges (10% of which seem to be on the verge of falling down) and other key infrastructure while taxing non-tax paying corporations, and reducing inflation.
CHIPS Act: Joe got a new industrial policy with the $52 billion in the CHIPS Act for revving up a US-based semi-conductor industry, which is key to progress in fighting climate change, as well. (Without this act, Newark, Ohio would have lost the new Intel $20 Billion plant and thousands of new high paying jobs.
Burn Pit legislation: Joe arranged funding for veterans suffering the after-effects of toxic burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan.
And the Stock Market is back up to almost highest level ever. (Your 401K is safe.)
Also the price of gas is almost back down to where it was before Russia invaded the Ukraine.
Perhaps Joe’s greatest achievement was returning civility and goodwill to the White House.
It is Joe’s soft spoken, dramatic words and steel in his spine that demonstrates his magnificent achievements.
Keep giving ’em hell, Joe.
