Dear Editor:
As I write to you and readers of The Times Leader, it has been 34 days and four hours since my precious, beloved Basset puppy went missing from Barnesville. He would have turned one last week. That celebration is on hold.
Rufus is a tricolored Basset hound. He has very unusual and distinctive pink splotches on the tip of his nose. His coloring is white, tan and black. The tip of his tail is white; the back of his coat is black with an abstract white heart. He is fixed, microchipped and was wearing a blue color with ID.
They say all Bassets have a heart shape somewhere on their body.
Rufus does indeed have a heart. For a pup, he was so sweet and loving.
On the evening of Nov. 5, a deer was spotted in the woods behind my home. Being a hound, Rufus was off like a shot.
He did not respond when called and hours were spent looking for him. I’ve been searching every day, all day, ever since. Nearby landmarks readers may recognize include Burkhart’s Nursery and Fairyland Ice Cream.
A tracker traced his scent to a nearby structure and there it ended.
In my heart, I believe Rufus was picked up.
If anyone knows anything, I can be reached 24/7. There is a reward of $2,000, no questions asked. Please, if you have him, return him. My life is shattered. And I am desperately hoping for a miracle.
