The Alpha and Omega — Jesus the Christ’s Response to Suffering

Dear Editor,

The times are fierce. The United States, the lone nation to appeal to the Supreme Judge of the world (Jn 5:22, RSV) in its founding document — The Declaration of Independence — is at the very center of tumultuous world affairs.

Why is Jesus the Christ the Supreme Judge of the world as the Apostle John declared?

In part because he fulfilled “all righteous” at his baptism after thirty years and nine months of development in wisdom, favor, and stature with God.-Mt 3:15-17, Lk 2:40, Eccl 11:5

Jesus the Christ came as the Son of God to be the Son of man.-Phil 2:5-8, Mt 1:18-23, Jn 5:17-27

Later on the cross of Golgotha, after atoning for his own murder (Lk 23:34), Jesus the Christ exercised this same authority to save the world and sustain the universe to this very moment by his all-important cry: “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”-I Jn 4:14-18, Heb 1:3, Mt 27:46

In this prayer, Jesus, as the Son of man, affirmed his belief in God, his own holiness, and his love for the imperiled world utterly refuting Satan’s indictment of humanity in Job 2:4-5 to wit: “Then Satan answered the LORD, ‘Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life. But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.”-Jn 8:28-29

Though scourged, mocked, and crucified, Jesus did not curse God but, instead, asked the ultimate question in response to God’s ultimate revelation to him that the “the end of the universe was at hand”.-Jn 5:17-20, Mt 24:34-36, 27:17-44, Jn 19:1-19

Thus, in thirty-three years and nine months, Jesus lived becoming the Alpha and Omega — the Beginning and the End — by adjudicating the status of the universe in his words of spirit & life.-Heb 1:3, Jn 6:63

Jesus then declared, “It is finished.”-Jn 19:30 “Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!”-Lk 23:46

Jesus literally fulfilled Jn 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” As Jn 5:22 states, “The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son.”

God never rescinded Jesus’ authority.

Earlier, during his three-year ministry proliferating righteousness, Jesus taught in Mt 21:43 that he had the authority to designate the nation “. . . producing the fruits. . .” of the kingdom of God.

Seventeen hundred and seventy years after his birth, the founders of this nation appealed to the authority of Jesus the Christ as the Supreme Judge of the world, who had hung on a Roman cross between two thieves, to sanction the birth of this country.

Now, just as the Romans and the Jews colluded to crucify Jesus the Christ, fascist, communists and secular progressives proudly identify themselves as colluding to topple the United States of America as founded on three pillars: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and free enterprise.

Judgment then as well as now constitutes a fundamental part of the history of the Godhead’s regard for this world as well as the universe.-Jn 16:6-15, 33, Eph 3:7-21

The times may get much, much fiercer given the determination of those opposed to this nation’s founding as well as Israel’s!-Gen 12:1-3
