Dear Editor,

This letter is twofold, first to acknowledge, then to encourage. After spending time at an event on Thursday, May 18th, sponsored by the Senior Services of Belmont County/SSOBC to celebrate Older Americans, I want to express my appreciation to all those responsible and engaged in this event.

Staff and the various vendors shared invaluable information and offered professional advice. I would encourage all those 60 years of age and older to visit your local senior center and before you say joining your local center is not for you, take the opportunity to visit and see what you may be missing … daily activities, day trips, daily meals, birthday celebrations, informational speakers, transportation assistance and staff is always open to suggestions!

As I left the event I realized how fortunate we are to live in the Ohio Valley and have so many dedicated individuals ready, willing and able to improve our quality of life. Don’t allow the word ‘senior’ to deter you … let’s make every day count!
