Trump settlement
Dear Editor,
I believe the best way for America to deal with the Trump fiasco dividing America would be to not allow Trump to run for President ever again.
It would be best if Trump himself took Lyndon Johnson’s 1968 way out: “I shall not seek, nor shall I accept my party’s nomination for President…”
But I doubt that will ever happen.
So we must invoke the 14th Amendment, Section three of the Constitution to disallow Trump from running for President (or any other Federal position).
Section three prohibits anyone who has previously taken an oath of office (Senators, Representatives, and other public officials) from holding public office if they have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States.
To clean up the 91 charges against Trump, in the four jurisdictions where charges have been brought, the charges should be reduced to a total of four — Insurrection, Stealing Government Documents, Paying Hush Money, and an Assault on Democracy and be brought under Jack Smith in one jurisdiction.
Once Trump is determined to be guilty, he and the other co-conspirators (Rudy Giuliani, et al) should be sentenced to three years of house confinement, followed by seven years of probation. Any violation of house confinement would be incarceration in prison.
In addition I support Congressional sanctions for those Congresspersons such as Lyndsey Graham, Jim Jordan, etc., involved with Trump’s attempted coup against the United States.
After dealing with these malcontents we can go about governing a United States of America.
