‘No Kings’ Column Really Missed the Mark on Event
Dear Editor,
I feel compelled to respond to Cal Thomas’ uninformed article “No Kings? No One Really Has a Clue”. His review of the historic peaceful protests across our nation in response to an administration led by Donald J. Trump is egregiously misguided. He even claims that the event was largely choreographed and underwritten by donors such as George Soros as a money laundering scheme. Show us the proof, Mr. Thomas. And, speaking of money laundering, you failed to note the most recent Presidential Pardon is for Changpeng Zhao, the convicted founder of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. His conviction was for money laundering. Interestingly enough he has ties to the Trump family.
The No Kings March was one of peace. In America, we all are allowed to peacefully protest against anything we deem as an injustice. This peacefulness shown by over 7 million people is in sharp contrast to the horror of the MAGA Mob on Jan. 6, 2021, that attempted a coup and cried for the death of the then Speaker of the House and the Vice President of the United States.
Mr. Thomas also failed to note the juvenile and contemptuous video posted by Trump during the No Kings protest. The video shows Trump in a fighter jet wearing a King’s crown. He then flies over protesters and dumps sewage on their heads. Is that not proclaiming himself to being a king, as well as showing disregard for his fellow Americans? If this was meant satirically, it sorely missed the mark. Trump, and any elected official, serves the American people — ALL of them. This point is mysteriously missing from Mr. Thomas’ article.
The current administration is taking a wrecking ball to our republic and the American people are finally waking up and proclaiming “We the people run this country. No King shall.”
