Blount continues to shine on D for Florida A&M

Coming out of Linsly, Akil Blount had several options to continue his football and academic careers.

He opted for Florida A&M University and he’s simply flourished as a Rattler, despite coaching changes and team struggles.

Blount, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Mel Blount, is a senior and enjoying his finest season. Actually, he may have had his finest performance last week in the Rattlers’ first victory against Delaware State.

Blount recorded five tackles and stepped in front of a pass and raced it back 75 yards for a touchdown. He also forced a fumble.

The Rattlers’ team captain is going to have the chance to showcase his skills nationally, too. He’s been chosen to take part in the sixth annual Division I FCS Senior Scout Bowl, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Myrtle Beach.
