Kinnick’s All-MEC snub doesn’t add up

It doesn’t matter if it’s high school or college, it seems like there’s a gripe when post-season accolades are announced.

St. Clairsville grad Matt Kinnick was victimized by one earlier this week when the Mountain East Conference announced its all-league football teams for this season.

Five quarterbacks were recognized, all told. None of which went by the name Matt Kinnick, who plays for West Virginia State.

Kinnick had a brilliant season for W.Va. State. In last week’s loss to West Liberty, he was 25-of-47 for 353 yards and a touchdown.

For the season, he finished with 3,084 yards and 20 touchdowns. His passing yards led the Mountain East. His touchdown total ranked fifth and his completion percentage of 58.6 ranked fourth.

Kinnick’s yardage total ranks 19th in all of Division II.

If those aren’t all-MEC kinds of numbers, not sure what are. The team only honored one quarterback on first team. But, Kinnick isn’t worthy of second or even honorable mention? I don’t buy it for a minute.
