Park’s Tarovisky shines at Florida Gulf Coast

With the calendar now reading November, cross country season is winding down at the collegiate level. Division II has hit regional week, while Division I conferences crowned its champions last weekend.

Wheeling Park grad Lauren Tarovisky continued her outstanding season at Florida Gulf Coast University by leading her team in the Atlantic Sun Championship.

Tarovisky finished eighth place in a personal-record time of 17 minutes, 48 seconds.

That time is the third best clocking in Florida Gulf Coast History. The top time in program history belongs to St. Clairsville graduate Kelly Perzanowski. She was a conference champion during her senior season.

Along with getting it done on the cross country course, Tarovisky is also shining in the classroom. She was named FGCU Student-Athlete of the Month for September. She maintains a 3.41 GPA and was on the Dean’s List during the spring semester as a communications major.

At Ohio University, Shadyside product Tara Tollett finished 64th in the Mid-American Conference Championship in a time of 23 minutes, 6 seconds.

With fall sports winding down, winter sports at the collegiate level are heating up.

St. Clairsville product Dominic Prezzia fell in his wrestle off with Myles Martin at Ohio State University last week. He lost by a major decision.

DIVISION I FBS

DAN MONTEROSO, Purdue St. Clairsville graduate played in the Boilermakers’ victory against Nebraska last week.

SHAQ PETTEWAY, West Virginia Steubenville product recorded two tackles, one of which was for loss during last week’s loss to TCU.

FCS

MARK DODD, Lafayette Linsly product posted six tackles in a loss to Bucknell last week.

AKIL BLOUNT, Florida A&M Linsly graduate posted eight tackles in the Rattlers at North Carolina A&T.

DIVISION II

MATT KINNICK, West Virginia State St. Clairsvlle product had another impressive outing. He completed 27-of-40 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns.

COREY ERNEST, West Liberty St. Clairsville graduate started again at left guard in the Hilltoppers’ loss at Shepherd.

COLE STEPHEN, West Liberty St. Clairsvlle grad played in last week’s loss.

MIKE BERARDI, West Liberty John Marshall grad started at center for the Hilltoppers last week.

MARCUS SCHUMACHER, West Liberty Monroe Central graduate was charted for six tackles in last week’s loss.

DAREE GOODWIN, West Liberty Wheeling Park grad caught 5 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown last week.

STEPHEN ROGALSKI, West Virginia Wesleyan Magnolia grad caught 2 passes for 28 yards in a loss to Charleston.

TANNER WRIGHT, Glenville State River grad punted twice for an average of 50.5 yards with a long of 52.

ZACH PHILLIPS, Gannon Wheeling Park grad made his first collegiate start last week. He completed 14-of-30 passes for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns. He ran for 67 yards.

GEREMY PAIGE, Gannon Wheeling Park product posted 7 tackles in a loss to California, Pa.

VONDELL BELL, California, Pa. Wheeling Park grad had four tackles and two pass break ups against Gannon.

JESSE STOUTDT, Tiffin- Barnesville grad recorded 5 tackles in last week’s game.

DIVISION III

DALTON SECHREST, Marietta Beallsville product posted six tackles in last week’s loss.

JACOB CLARK, Muskingum Shadyside graduate started once again at left guard.

JONATHAN CARLIER, Waynesburg Martins Ferry product recorded 3 tackles in the Yellow Jackets’ loss to Thomas More.

DASHON REDMAN, Mt. Union Steubenville grad posted 3 tackles in a lop-sided win against Otterbein.

CHASE KINEMOND, Bethany Shadyside High grad saw time at quarterback in the Bison’s win against Grove City.

DAULTON FREEMAN, Bethany St. Clairsville product had 3 tackles and broke up a pass in last week’s victory.
