Lewicki off to icy hot start at Adrian

MOUNDSVILLE — John Marshall High product Kristin Lewicki is off to a blazing start this season with the Adrian College hockey team.

The talented senior has been named Offensive Player of the Week in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.

Lewicki scored three goals on just five shots in leading the Michigan-based Bulldogs to a pair of wins. She added three assists for a six-point week. This marks the second time Lewicki has gained such honors in her Adrian career.

“I thought both of our games went very well for us. We started off strong and battled through to show how strong our team will be this year and what we are capable of doing. It was a great first weekend for our season,” Lewicki said. “As for my honor, to get that the first weekend of games my senior year is a pretty great feeling. I was not expecting it, but it’s an honor to have a good start my senior year and to be honored as player of the week.

“My teammates also deserve credit, helping me get the points,” she added. “I hope to be the best player I can be and help my team go far this season.”

The Moundsville native is coming off a spectacular junior season, one in which she was named NCAA Division III All-American. She led the Bulldogs to a 25-3-1 record, a conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

She finished just shy of leading the nation in scoring with 49 points. The gifted forward netted 32 goals to go with 17 assists. Those 32 goals were second best in the nation while she ranked third in the country in goals per game (1.10).

At John Marshall, Lewicki played on the Monarchs’ boys’ hockey team while also competing in softball and basketball all four years and two years of volleyball. She also excelled in the classroom, graduating with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society.

Lewicki is the daughter of Roger and Sue Lewicki of Moundsville.
