Caldwell product splendid in OAC shootout thriller

To the victor go the spoils.

When you win a wild and wacky game like Marietta College did against Capital last Saturday, a lot of spoils come your way.

At the center of the victory was a former Ohio Valley Athletic Conference standout. Caldwell High product Tanner Clark, who helped lead the Redskins to multiple playoff berths, was very impressive against Capital last week en route to a myriad of recognition.

Clark etched his name into the Marietta College record book with six touchdowns, which ties for the most in a single game.

En route to the end zone, Clark racked up 311 yards, which is the most in college football this season.

That’s not just in Division III, but across all divisions.

Clark was named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year for his efforts. He was also named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week.

The Pioneers make their first road trip of the 2018 season Saturday when they travel to New Concord to take on Muskingum in the Shrine Trophy Game.

DIVISION I

COLTON MCKIVITZ, West Virginia — Union Local graduate made the start at right tackle in the Mountaineers’ win over Youngstown State.

JOSH SILLS, West Virginia — The Meadowbrook product started at left guard as the Mountaineers rolled past the Penguins.

AUSTIN DORRIS, Indiana — Shadyside graduate made his first collegiate catch in a victory against Virginia.

ROSS COMIS, UMass — Madonna alum completed 1 of 3 passes for 26 yards in a loss to Georgia Southern.

ELIJIAH BELL, North Carolina A&T — Wheeling Park product caught 3 passes for 39 yards in a win over Gardner-Webb.

MAALIK RICHMOND, Youngstown State — Steubenville graduate played in last week’s loss at West Virginia.

MANDELLA LAWRENCE-BURKE, Kent — Steubenville product played in the Golden Flashes’ win over Howard.

DIVISION II

ROBERT VARGO, Ohio Dominican — Martins Ferry graduate started once again for the Panthers in a win over Ashland.

MATT BARBOUR, Ohio Dominican — Martins Ferry graduate recorded a tackle in the Panthers’ win over Ashland.

MATT HACKATHORN, Gannon — Wheeling Park graduate began his senior season by starting at right tackle.

ZACH PHILLIPS, West Liberty — Wheeling Park product completed 8-of-23 passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

CLAY MCDONALD, West Liberty — Wheeling Park product was charted for two tackles in a win over Weselyan.

CLIFFORD CLARK, West Liberty — Cambridge graduate posted six tackles in the Hilltoppers’ win. He also had a tackle for loss.

CHANCE RUCKER, West Liberty — Caldwell graduate started at right tackle in the Hilltoppers’ win.

AUSTIN WHIPKEY, West Liberty — Linsly product started at right guard for the Hilltoppers.

CODY RINE, West Liberty — Brooke graduate posted six tackles last week. Included was a sack.

ZACH CONNOR, West Liberty — Indian Creek graduate played in last week’s loss.

SAVION JOHNSON, West Liberty — Wheeling Park graduate carried 3 times for 11 yards in a win over West Virginia Wesleyan.

MAZEY MOSBY, West Liberty — Wheeling Park graduate caught two passes for seven yards and touchdown.

JAVON DAVIS, IUP — Steubenville product saw his first collegiate action in the Crimson Hawks’ victory against Millersville. He completed 3-of-8 passes for 11 yards.

THEO BLACKSTON, Mercyhurst — Wheeling Park graduate caught two passes for 10 yards.

DEVON HARRIS, Walsh — St. Clairsville graduate appeared in the Cavaliers loss.

ALIJAH DEMITRAS, Walsh — Steubenville graduate started at center for the Cavaliers.

RYAN LAFOLLETTE, Wheeling Jesuit — Monroe Central product caught a touchdown in the Cardinals’ program debut against Hocking College.

MATT GREENWOOD, Wheeling Jesuit — St. Clairsville product was named WJU’s special teams player of the week after connecting on five PAT kicks and a field goal.

DYLAN BAKER, Wheeling Jesuit — Wheeling Central grad recorded an interception in the win over Hocking.

Division III

GAGE GIOVENGO, Marietta — Linsly graduate appeared in the Pioneers’ victory.

TROY PONTIUS, Marietta — Buckeye Trail graduate appeared in the Pioneers’ victory.

CHRISTIAN WITCHEY, St. Vincent’s — St. Clairsville graduate punted four times for 132 yards for a 33 yard average. He had a long of 34 yards.

JUSTIN LOUGHRIE, Geneva — Brooke graduate rushed 3 times for 17 yards in a win over St. Vincent.

LUCAS HERRINGTON, Mt. Union — Steubenville grad caught 3 passes for 54 yards in the Purple Raiders’ season.

CROSS COUNTRY

MEGAN BATEMAN, California, Pa. — Union Local product finished 20th overall and was fifth on the team for the Vulcans, who won the team title at the Bethany College Invitational.

JAMIE FOGLE, West Liberty — Martins Ferry graduate was the fifth runner for the Hilltoppers in the Bethany College Invitational.
