Wooding making big impact at college level

OBERLIN — Von Wooding has been making an impact on the defensive side of the ball for the Yeoman since he stepped foot on campus in 2016.

The former Linsly Cadet had one of his most productive games in his career last Saturday against Wittenberg.

Wooding, who plays inside linebacker, recorded 12 tackles, a tackle for loss and forced a fumble.

Wooding was named his team’s defensive player of the game.

DIVISION I

AUSTIN DORRIS, Indiana — Shadyside graduate played in the Hoosiers’ victory against Ball State.

ROSS COMIS, UMass — Madonna alum completed 5 of 12 passes for 60 yards. He also ran for a touchdown in a loss to Florida International.

ELIJIAH BELL, North Carolina A&T — Wheeling Park product and his Aggie teammates had an open week and will take on Morgan State this week. N.C. A&T is up to No. 3 in the FCS national poll.

MA’LIK RICHMOND, Youngstown State — Steubenville grad posted four tackles, including a sack of 17 yards and an additional tackle for loss.

MANDELLA LAWRENCE-BURKE, Kent — Steubenville product played in the Golden Flashes’ loss at Penn State.

DIVISION II

ROBERT VARGO, Ohio Dominican — Martins Ferry graduate started once again for the Panthers in a loss to Hillsdale.

MATT BARBOUR, Ohio Dominican — Martins Ferry graduate played in the Panthers’ loss to Hillsdale.

MATT PETRELLA, Steubenville — Big Red product appeared in Ohio Dominican’s loss last week to Hillsdale.

MATT HACKATHORN, Gannon — Wheeling Park started once again at right tackle.

ZACH PHILLIPS, West Liberty — Wheeling Park product completed 14-of-19 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.

BRENTON COLABELLA, West Liberty — Steubenville Central graduate completed 3-of-6 passes for 16 yards and was picked off once.

CLAY MCDONALD, West Liberty — Wheeling Park product was charted for five tackles in a loss to Charleston.

CLIFFORD CLARK, West Liberty — Cambridge graduate posted a team-high 15 tackles and had 1.5 for loss last week against Charleston.

CHANCE RUCKER, West Liberty — Caldwell graduate started at right tackle in the Hilltoppers’ loss.

AUSTIN WHIPKEY, West Liberty — Linsly product started at right guard for the Hilltoppers.

CODY RINE, West Liberty — Brooke graduate posted five tackles last week. Included was a tackle for loss.

ZACH CONNOR, West Liberty — Indian Creek graduate played in last week’s loss.

KYLE RITZ, West Liberty — Magnolia graduate appeared in last week’s loss.

SAVION JOHNSON, West Liberty — Wheeling Park graduate carried once in a loss to Charleston.

MAZEY MOSBY, West Liberty — Wheeling Park graduate caught three passes last week against Charleston. He had 63 yards in returns, too.

JACK DAVIS, West Liberty — Martins Ferry graduate appeared in last week’s loss to Charleston.

JAVON DAVIS, IUP — Steubenville graduate saw significant action in the Crimson Hawks’ 59-17 win over Lock Haven. He completed 4-of-7 passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

THEO BLACKSTON, Mercyhurst — Wheeling Park graduate played in last week’s win against Bloomsburg.

DEVON HARRIS, Walsh — The St. C. graduate and the Cavaliers had an impromptu week off after their game at Jacksonville was cancelled.

ALIJAH DEMITRAS, Walsh — This Steubenville graduate and his Cavalier teammates will return to action Saturday against Tiffin.

RYAN LAFOLLETTE, Wheeling Jesuit — Monroe Central product caught a touchdown in the Cardinals’ win over the Muskingum JV squad. The play measured 46 yards.

MATT GREENWOOD, Wheeling Jesuit — St. Clairsville graduate was solid once again as the Cardinals kicker in the win over Muskingum.

DYLAN BAKER, Wheeling Jesuit — Wheeling Central grad played in the secondary once again last week.

Division III

TANNER CLARK, Marietta — Caldwell grad had another big week for the Pioneers. He rushed 16 times for 80 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 16 yards. En route to being named OAC Special Teams Player of the Week, he also returned three kicks for 177 yards, including a long of 90 yards.

GAGE GIOVENGO, Marietta — Linsly graduate appeared in the Pioneers’ victory.

PARKER CARETTI, Marietta — River graduate played in the Pioneers’ third straight victory to open the season.

TROY PONTIUS, Marietta — Buckeye Trail graduate appeared in the Pioneers’ victory.

AUSTIN SNODGRASS, Muskingum — Buckeye Trail graduate saw time in the Muskies’ loss at home to Marietta.

CHRISTIAN WITCHEY, St. Vincent’s — St. Clairsville graduate got a workout on Saturday. He punted seven times for 275 yards, including a long of 46 yards.

LUCAS HERRINGTON, Mt. Union — Steubenville grad caught four passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns in the Purple Raiders’ win over Baldwin-Wallace.

CROSS COUNTRY

MEGAN BATEMAN, California, Pa. — Union Local product was part of the Vulcans’ top five at the Buffalo Stampede Cross Country meet.

SHAYE BECKETT, California, Pa. — Bellaire grad returned to the Cal, Pa. lineup.
