The good, the bad, and the ugly

You could best describe Ohio State’s lopsided 43-0 verdict over outmanned Youngstown State Saturday afternoon in three ways: The good, the bad and the ugly!

First of all, the good: Yes, the Buckeyes did put 43 points on the board, but it was the defense that was the shining star(s).

The Buckeyes’ stop troops held the Penguins to minus, yes I said minus, yards rushing. Negative 11 to be exact on 21 carries.

And through the air, the fellow Ohioans could only muster 85 yards on 12 completions as the defensive line harassed both YSU?quarterbacks, the linebackers took away the short dumps to the tight ends and running backs, and the corners and safeties were on the wide receivers like flies on you know what!

Twenty three different OSU defenders showed up on the defensive stat sheet, led by defensive end Lawrence Wilson with 1 solo, 1 assist, 1.5 tackles for minus 20 yards and a quarterback sack for another 18. Seven different players recorded a tackle for lost yardage, which totalled 34 stripes.

And what about the Buckeyes’ special teams?
