Stultz to speak at OSU Alumni Dinner

A kicker for the Buckeyes from 1996-2000, Stultz is the third all-time leading scorer for Ohio State. He played in the 1997 Rose Bowl, the 1998 and ’99 Sugar Bowls and the Outback Bowl as well as the 2001 Hula Bowl.
At Ohio State, he was named first-team All-Big Ten in 2000 in addition to being Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week three times. He had game-winning field goals against Minnesota (38 yards) in 1999 and Illinois (34 yards) in 2000.
Referring to Stultz during his time as a Buckeye, John Porentas of the O-Zone reported, “The redshirt freshman from Orrville, Ohio has really put the foot back into Ohio State football. His performance against Bowling Green was the finest by an OSU place-kicker in many, many years. Stultz is perfect on the year at PATs this season and has missed only one field goal, a 46-yard attempt against Wyoming that Stultz says he missed by about 20 inches. Stultz has made all his other attempts, and they have not all been chip shots.”
The kicker also told Porentas that kicking field goals is about half skill and repetition and about half mental.
On the Ohio State alumni website, Stultz recalled after graduation that his “favorite game-day memory is when I ran through the Tunnel of Pride for the first time. To see so many great Buckeyes from years and years of fantastic tradition, rooting us on and getting us fired-up for the biggest game of the year. WOW!”
He also said his favorite game-day tradition is watching the band march onto the field. “I actually didn’t have the chance to experience the band marching out onto the field until after my career was over. Now, after being a fan and a former player … , I can honestly say it gives me chills every time.”
During his kicking career at Ohio State, Stultz scored 341 points. He appeared in 50 consecutive games and earned four letters.
An Orrville High School graduate, he lettered in both basketball and track in addition to being an outstanding place-kicker.
He lettered twice with the track and basketball teams and earned four letters in football before going on to play in the Ohio North-South and Big 33 football games after his senior season.
After his four years in high school, he held nearly every kicking record, including the most career field goals, most field goals in a season and the longest field goal in Orrville High history – a 53-yarder against Mansfield Madison in 1993. When he made a 43-yarder in the 1994 state title game, it was the longest ever up to that time.
The Belmont County group noted alumni dues of $15 or $25 a couple may be paid.
