Monroe, Harrison prevail

BEAVERTON — It’s been a long season for Monroe Central, but the Seminoles helped ease some of that pain with a 37-0 whitewashing of homestanding Frontier Friday night.

Senior Bobby O’Donnell had a huge night for the Seminoles (1-8) as he returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown. He also had scoring runs of 47 and 50 yards and finished with 96 yards on seven carries.

Classmate Jarett Hooper intercepted a Cougars pass and took it 95 yards to the house, while Ryan LaFollete had a 59-yard punt return.

O’Donnell and Hooper had two-point runs each, while LaFollete booted a PAT and caught a two-point pass.

Defensively, Alex Webb charted 11 tackles, including three for lost yardage. Brennon Wilson added eight stops, while O’Donnell had half-a-dozen, including a TFL. Dalton Dick also had six tackles.

Monroe Central concludes the regular season next Friday by hosting Buckeye Trail at Monroe Park.

At Warsaw, the Huskies (6-3) kept their slim Division V, Region 19 playoff hopes alive as they kept the host Black Bears (0-9) winless.

Tyler West, Jesse Ball and Wyatt Elias all scored two touchdowns each for Harrison Central as it led 19-0 after one quarter and 33-0 at the half.

West sprinted 70 yards for the first score and also found the end zone from 43 yards out.

Ball scored on a 1-yard run and a 24-yard run, while Elias ran in from a yard out and 4 yards out.

Logan Starr and Job Positano each kicked a pair of PATs.
