Shadyside wins again; Ferry falls

SHADYSIDE — Macy Coffland had seven kills and six blocks Tuesday night as Shadyside improved to 2-0 with a 19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-23 prep volleyball victory against Caldwell inside the Tiger Den.

Jess Cicogna added 25 points assists for the Tigers, which opened the season by sweeping Bellaire on Monday. Mac Osman added nine kills; Jillian Joseph collected 15 kills; Riley Brown had five kills; and Alyx Baker had five aces.

Morgan Riggs scored 21 points for the Redskins.

Ferry Falls at Steubenville Central

STEUBENVILLE – The Catholic Central volleyball team scored the first point of the match, the last point and most of the points in between en route to a victory over Martins Ferry.

The Crusaders led for the majority of the match – the Purple Riders led by one point on two occassions early in the third game – on their way to a sweep. Catholic Central won the match, 25-18, 25-15, 25-10, inside Mickey Barber Gymnasium.
