Prep Roundup: St. C. girls prevail; UL spikes Buckeye

WELLSBURG — One night after injuring a knee late in a win over Beaver Local, Alyssa Otto tallied a hat trick in leading St. Clairsville to a 5-0 victory Wednesday against homestanding Brooke in girl’s high school soccer action.

The three goals give Otto, a Mercyhurst University recruit, 129 for her career. She also assisted on a goal.

Mikayla Hendershot found the net twice for the Red Devils (8-2). Macy Malin had a pair of assists, while Jaeda Nowak, and Ariel Ott also had helpers.

Nowak finished with five saves.

St. Clairsville is at East Liverpool tonight for their third consecutive match in as many nights. Tonight’s contest is at Patterson Field.

VOLLEYBALL

Union Local sweeps BL

CONNORVILLE – Casey Kildow recorded 17 digs, 14 assists and five kills Wednesday night to help lead Union Local past Buckeye Local 25-14, 25-10, 25-22 inside Buckeye Local High School.

Sydney Lohr added 10 kills and 10 digs for the Jets, while Emma Knox had nine assists. Alexis Logan had sic kills and three aces.

Rachel Moore had 10 digs for the Panthers.

Shadyside keeps Rolling

SHADYSIDE – Haley Esposito had 10 points and five digs as Shadyside kept winning with a 25-11, 25-11, 29-27 victory against Wheeling Central.

Madison Davis had eight points, 32 assists and 12 digs for the LTs, while Sarah Teasdale recorded 19 digs and Macy Coffland was tagged with seven kills.

Bellaire sweeps Bridgeport

BELLAIRE – Michaela Flaherty had 10 points and 10 digs as Bellaire downed Bridgeport 25-22, 25-18, 25-16.

Haleigh LaMotte added 10 assists, eight points and seven digs for the Big Reds. Kaitlyn Kosky had eight points and eight assists, Natalie Stoner dished out 14 digs, Tenley Hughes had seven points and six kills and Addie Conroy was credited with eight points and five aces.

Beallsville tops Valley

BEALLSVILLE – Ashlie Louden had 16 assists and eight kills as Beallsville defeated Valley 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 26-24.

Olivia Muncy added 10 assists and nine kills for the Blue Devils, while Mackenzie Perkins had eight aces.
