Prep Roundup: Harrison falls to Creek; UL drains River

CADIZ — Indian Creek scored six runs in the first inning en route to a victory over Harrison Central. Klay Cottis and Josh Maurer both issued three singles for the Redskins. Cottis also tallied four RBI while Josh Maurer had three.

Coy Amis belted two doubles and brought home six runs and Richie Gualtiere had two singles.

For the Huskies, Sam Santille had a five-hit outing (four singles, one double) and two RBI while Cruz Capers collected two singles, one double and one RBI.

Andrew Clelland was also solid with two singles and three RBI.

Union Local 14, River 9

MORRISTOWN — Union Local scored 12 runs in the first three innings as it secured a victory over River.

Cody Morrison had a single, triple and RBI for the Jets (11-14) while Ayden Smolira had a single, double and three RBI. Luke Merritt was also solid with two singles and two RBI and Carter Loase tallied a double.

For the Pilots, Carter Dennis had two singles and two RBI. Chase Lawrence and Jagger Knight Marty also had two singles.

Bridgeport 7, Buckeye Local 6

BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport scored four runs in the sixth inning before holding off a fierce Buckeye Local rally in a victory.

P.J. Sauvageot tallied two singles, one double and a RBI for the Bulldogs while John Flannigan had a single and three RBI.

For the Panthers, Frederick Hertler II crushed a triple and home run while Daniel Kelley had two singles and a RBI.

Late Wednesday

St. Clairsville 10, Indian Creek 0

WINTERSVILLE — St. Clairsville’s offense continued to tee off on opposing pitching Wednesday in a 10-0 victory against Indian Creek

Matt Busby had two singles, a double and two RBI, while John Luke DeFilippo had a single and two RBI. Carrothers had a double and RBI, while Jarvis added a single and two RBI.

Tyler Tonkovich was impressive on the mound, spinning a three hitter. He struck out four and didn’t issue a walk.

Late Tuesday

St. Clairsville 12, Buckeye Local 2

AT CONNORVILLE, St. Clairsville struck early and often en route to a 12-2, mercy-rule victory against the Panthers.

Derek Witsberger was the pitching winner, while Dustin Carrothers had three singles,a double and RBI to lead the offense. Jakob Jarvis added two singles and a like number of RBI.
