Prep Roundup: Ruble shines as Bridgeport tops Bellaire, 3-0

WOLFHURST — Brooklynn Ruble shined in the circle and at the plate Thursday as Bridgeport blanked Bellaire 3-0 in prep softball action at Irene Ehni Memorial Field.

Ruble scattered three singles, striking out seven and walking two. She also doubled, singled and knocked in three runs.

The Bulldogs (13-5) will finally get a chance to defend their OVAC Class 2A title saturday when they play Clay-Battelle at 1 p.m. on Field 4 at the J.B. Chambers Youth Sports Complex in Elm Grove.

Shadyside 5, Buckeye Local 4

SHADYSIDE — Paige Gorby was credited with the game-winning RBI in the eighth inning as Shadyside edged Buckeye Local.

Syd Destifanes had two singles for the Tigers (14-8), who rallied with three in the eighth after the Panthers plated two in the top half of the inning.

Madison Davis and Holy Butler both singled and drove in a run for Shadyside.

Ashley Burkett homered for Buckeye Local, while Alaire Destifanes doubled. Sierra Dudzik had two singles and an RBI and Makaylee Meeks rapped two singles.

Barnesville 10, Beallsville 8

BEALLSVILLE — Erin Hannahs tripled and singled twice helping Barnesville edged Beallsville.

Regan Hanlon had two singles and drove in three runs for the Shamrocks (14-11), who scored eight times in the third. Madison Detlin added two singles and two RBI.

Olivia Muncy homered and drove in three runs for the Blue Devils (6-18).

BASEBALL

Barnesville 7, Union Local 4

MORRISTOWN — Jagger Jefferis belted a two-run single with the bases loaded in the ninth inning as Barnesville rebounded from its loss in the OVAC 3A title game by besting its opponent in the 3A semifinals.

Jefferis finished with two singles. Cade Hannahs and Ayden Hannahs both singled and plated a run for the Shamrocks (17-1).

Dakota Hess and Josh Neidert both slapped two singles for the Jets.

Shadyside 11, Buckeye Local 2

SHADYSIDE — Bryce Amos belted two singles and knocked in three runs as Shadyside overwhelmed Buckeye Local at Fleming Field.

Frank Ripoly and Collin Holmes both added two singles and an RBI for the Tigers.

Alan Burkett’s two singles paced the Panthers.

John Marshall 10, Bellaire 0

GLEN DALE — Jacob Mason, Joel Wise, Chase Walton and Josh Schramm combined to one-hit Bellaire as John Marshall rolled to victory.

Izac Babiczuk and Grant Swift each tallied three hits and two RBI for the Monarchs (13-15), while Derek Black and Chas McCool both delivered two singles, a double and a RBI.
