St. Clairsville sweeps Bellaire; Monroe prevails

BELLAIRE – Kenzie Schoocraft had nine digs and six aces as St. Clairsville swept Bellaire 25-21, 25-12, 25-18.

Lydia Wees and Alexis Thoburn added six and five kills, respectively, for the Red Devils (3-5).

Bryanna Beckett recorded nine kills and nine assists for the Big Reds (1-8), while Heather Mehlman had five points and five digs. Tenley Hughes scored eight points.

Beallsville Tops Bridgeport

WOLFHURST – Ashlie Louden amassed 10 kills, nine assists and five aces as Beallsville bested Bridgeport 23-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-13.

Ashley Howell added 17 digs for the OVAC Class A-leading Blue Devils (5-2), while Trinity Abbott had 14 assists.

For Bridgeport, Maura Tiber had four points and eight digs. Megan Perdok added 12 points and seven assists. Danielle Bradac had nine points, two kills and four blocks.

Wheeling Central Downs Martins Ferry

WHEELING – Ava Doyle had 11 points, 12 kills and 25 digs, but it wasn’t enough as Martins Ferry fell to Wheeling Central (3-1) 21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19.

Rylie Doyle added eight points and 20 digs for the Purple Riders (1-10), while Suzanna Bruney had 10 digs and eight points. Shelby Thomas collected 10 assists, seven aces and five points; Lakyn Goff had 15 digs; and Megan Buksa had 10 digs.

Linsly topples Barnesville

BARNESVILLE — The invading Cadets prevailed in five sets by scores of 25-13, 18-25, 25-13, 19-25 and 15-4.

Barnesville was led by Kenzie Kaplet’s eight kills. Rylee Stephens added seven kills. Madison Detling contributed four kills and five aces. Stephens also had nine aces and two blocks. Kynlie Cline posted six digs, while Kiersten Adams added 10 assists.

Monroe outlasts River in five

WOODSFIELD — Monroe Central needed five sets, but in the end earned its fourth win of the season in seven outings by scores of 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18 and 15-5.

Amy Bettinger led the Seminoles with 19 kills, four blocks, 11 points and two aces. Haven Dick aded seven kills, four blocks, while Abby Thompson recorded seven kills. Allee Swick had 16 points and three aces, while Kalista Friday had 15 points, two aces and 26 digs. Kynzi Bishop had eight assists and two blocks. Trista Morris posted 26 digs.

River, meanwhile, was paced by Myla Ivey’s 10 kills and 18 digs. Hannah Raper added six kills and nine digs. Allison Bennett had 25 assists and 10 digs. Lacey Corder had 20 digs. Katie Straub had three aces and 16 kills.

St. Clairsville blanks Edison

RICHMOND — Macy Malin continued her torrid scoring as the talented junior recorded her sixth hat trick of the season Monday night in St. Clairsville’s 4-0 victory over host Edison in girls’ high school soccer action.

Malin now had 27 goals on the season for the undefeated Red Devils (7-0).

Emily Vera, the team’s lone senior, also found the back of the net. Assists were awarded to Bella Swan, Ariel Ott, Emily Thompson and Megan Malin.

Goalkeeper Jaeda Nowak made five saves for the shutout. Alli Grimes had 13 saves for the Wildcats
