Wheeling falls at Fairmont

FAIRMONT — Wheeling University was blasted in its first varsity road game, falling to Fairmont State, 53-10, at at Duval-Rosier Field.

Sophomore quarterback Tucker Strachan finished the game 14 of 31 for 118 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions for the Cardinals (0-2, 0-2 Mountain East). Sophomore wide receiver Ryan LaFollette led the Cardinals with eight catches for 68 yards.

Sophomore running back Sy Alli IV paced the running game with 64 yards on 11 carries.

Fairmont State got off to a fast start, scoring on a 46-yard touchdown pass, 41 seconds into the game and never looked back.

Strachan led the Cardinals on a nine-play, 75-yard drive that concluded with a 7-yard touchdown pass from to redshirt junior Jaquaun Davidson in the first quarter.

Matt Greenwood added a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter.
