Bellaire’s Defibaugh earns all-Ohio in CC

HEBRON — A trio of local runners had career days Saturday at the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships.

Bellaire’s Jacob Defibaugh and Buckeye Trail’s Kathryn Williams both earn all-Ohio honors, while River’s Livi Beard improved on her clocking from last season at National Trail Raceway.

DEFIBAUGH, finished 29th overall in the Division III race in 16:47.9 in his state debut. The Big Reds junior reached state by taking 14th at the Pickerington regional last week.

The performance capped a solid season for Defibaugh, who ran to several crowns this season, including the Buckeye 8, OVCCL and OVAC Class 3A titles.

WILLIAMS, also earned all-Ohio recognition by virtue of her 16th-place showing in 19:08.5

Last year, Williams finished 20th in 19:57.

BEARD crossed the finish line in 62nd place with a time 20:17.7 in her second state appearance.

Last fall, the Pilots senior and all-OVAC runner was 70th in 21:04.

Minster raced to the girls’ Division III crown, thanks to four top 20 finishes. Caldwell was 20th. Summit County Day was the winner on the boys’ side, also bolstered by four top 20 showings.

East Canton was third.
