Prep Roundup: Davis, Gavarkavich fuel Bellaire by Monroe

BELLAIRE — The Bellaire Big Reds used an impressive fourth quarter to fend off Monroe Central, 68-63, in the consolation game of the OVAC Class 3A Tournament Thursday.

Senior standout Katrina Davis was up to her usual tricks, posting her fourth triple-double of the campaign. She had 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. Davis was complemented by classmate Mia Gavarakavich, who hit six bonus goals and finished with 25. Kaleigh Leigh had 10, including the go-ahead trey.

Monroe Central was led by Haylynn Hiles, who had 12. Kalista Friday and Amy Bettinger evenly divided 22.

St. Clairsville 61, Oak Glen 50

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — St. Clairsville placed third in OVAC Class 4A thanks to a 61-50 victory against Oak Glen Thursday night on John Jenkins Court.

The Red Devils were led by Macy Malin’s 17. Alexis Thoburn and Shae Brookover went for 15 and 13, respectively. Katie Strama added 11.

Shadyside 70, Shenandoah 47

SARAHSVILLE — Shadyside used a strong second quarter to pull away for a 70-47 victory against Shenandoah in the consolation game of the OVAC 2A tournament.

Junior Tory Hendershot continued to inch closer to the 1,000-point mark for her career with a 31 spot. Paige Gorby and Baylee Wach each had nine points.

Shenandoah was led by Reagan Flood’s 18 points.

Harrison 50, Toronto 23

TORONTO — Harrison Central snapped a 17-game losing streak with a 50-23 victory against Toronto in an OVAC consolation matchup Thursday.

The Huskies, who are now 2-19, were led by sophomore McKayla Dunkle’s 18 and Audrey Corder’s 14.

Bridgeport 39, Conotton Valley 38

BRIDGEPORT — Jaren Tucker hit a pair of free throws with less than 10 seconds to go to give Bridgeport a 39-38 lead and eventual win Thursday against Conotton Valley in an OVAC consolation game.

Tucker led all scorers in the game with 28 points. Emily Siedel led the Rockets with 18.

Frontier 45, Barnesville 42

BARNESVILLE — Frontier had enough cushion to hang on for a victory against Barnesville in an OVAC consolation game Thursday evening.

The Shamrocks were led by Rylee Stephens’ 15. Halle Markovich added 12.
