River topples Monroe; Shamrocks win
WOODSFIELD — Carter Dennis carried 17 times for 206 yards and scored two touchdowns as River (2-1) defeated Monroe Central 28-6 Friday night inside Monroe Park.
The senior had TD runs of 8 and 2 yards in the first half and Brody Lollathin found Jake Rose from 13 yards out as the visitors led 21-0 at the half.
The Seminoles (2-1) reached the scoreboard when Alex Kilburn capped an 88-yard drive with a 7-yard run. The two-point run failed.
Avery Creamer concluded the scoring with a 1-yard run in the third quarter.
Zac Hocutt booted four PATs.
Creamer finished with 47 yards on seven carries while Lollathin completed 4 of 7 passes for 44 yards. Kabel Isaly went 5-for-6 for 81 yards.
Malachi Rose-Burton ran 17 times for 130 yards for Monroe Central. Kilburn had 89 on 20 totes. Rose-Burton was 4-for-21 for 49 yards and was intercepted four times. The Seminoles also had three lost fumbles.
Barnesville 38, Edison 10
BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks bounced back from a setback last week to Beaver Local impressively, posting a victory over previously undefeated Edison.
The Shamrocks (2-1) received three touchdowns from senior Gage Hannahs. C.J. Hannahs rushed for a score and threw one to Jake Boulet. Gavin Carpenter also drilled a 30-yard field goal.
Barnesville hosts Shenandoah next week.
The Wildcats’ lone scores came on a Jayden Sanders 25-yard field goal and a Vinnie Marcino pick-six.
Edison heads home for the first time this year and welcomes Catholic Central on Friday.
