Union Local sweeps River; Barnesville topples Bellaire

HANNIBAL — Union Local wasted little time in taking care of homestanding River Wednesday evening in three games by scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-7.

Sophomore Torre Kildow had 10 kills and four digs. Casey Kildow added seven kills and four digs. Reagan Vinskovich had six kills and two blocks.

River was led by Hannah Raper’s two kills, three sets and four digs.

Barnesville d. Bellaire,

25-7, 25-18, 25-16

BELLAIRE — The Shamrocks cruised to a three-set victory over the Big Reds.

The Shamrocks were led by Halle Markovich’s 11 kills. Marly Keyser had six kills and Rylee Stephens had five. Kiera Zitzman had four aces and Kynlie Cline had 11 digs. Ava McFarland handed 16 assists.

Bellaire was led by Allie Ault’s four kills and nine digs. Bryanna Beckett had nine assists, six digs and two aces. Sidney Rowson had eight digs. Gracelyn Maupin had seven digs and two aces.

Frontier d. Bridgeport,

25-13, 25-9, 25-8

BRIDGEPORT — The invading Cougars completed the season sweep of the Bulldogs Wednesday.

Bridgeport was paced by Kaylee Bain’s three points, three assists and six digs. Emmi Felton had three kills and three digs. Campbell Kropka had three digs. Markie McCormick had four points, two aces and two digs.

St. John Academy d. Hundred, 25-17, 25-15, 25-11

BELLAIRE — St. John Central Academy celebrated Senior Night in splendid fashion, sweeping the Hornets.

Senior standout Elizabeth Schnegg led the Fighting Irish with 16 points and 19 digs while classmate Kyla Kull produced 16 points and eight digs. Senior Dannielle Yaegel delivered eight points for the winners.

JM wins girls event

SARDIS — The third annual OV Athletics girls golf tournament was held Wednesday at Fairway River Links.

John Marshall won the team title with a 384, which was 30 shots better than River. St. Clairsville (419) and Edison (432) also fielded full teams.

Fort Frye’s Ella Keffer was the tournament champion with a round of 79.

Area players on the All-Tournament team were St. Clairsville’s Brooke Chamberlain (84), Shadyside’s Grace Green (91) and Barnesville’s Breanna Flood (95).

BOYS

Buckeye Local def. Oak Glen, 188-199

AT BECWOOD, the Panthers got a final OVAC tuneup and defeated the Golden Bears by 11 shots.

Oak Glen’s Jacob Gittings was the match medalist with a round of 43.
