Prep Roundup: Barnesville swept by Edison in D-III; Martins Ferry bows out
BARNESVILLE — The homestanding Shamrocks battled Edison, but in the end, however, the Wildcats were simply too much and advanced to the Division III sectional co-final.
The Wildcats prevailed in all three sets by a 25-22 score.
Grace Phillips led the Wildcats with 14 points and 7 digs. Savanna Ankrom had seven points, three kills and three digs. Karissa Speedy had seven points, 40 sets, 13 assists and two kills. Corinne Freeman had seven kills and six blocks. Alysea Fiedorczyk and Katelin Kowalczyk both had five points.
The Shamrocks were led by senior Rylee Stephens, who had 16 kills. Kenzie Kaplet had seven kills. Kynlie Cline had 13 digs. Grace Detling had seven digs. Ava McFarland added 18 assists, while Alyssa Carter had 11.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday at Tusky Valley for a 2 p.m. start.
