St. C. rallies past Beaver
LISBON — St. Clairsville’s first-ever trip to Beaver Local will be one the Red Devils remember for a long, long time.
Trailing the host Beavers 47-46 heading to the fourth quarter, St. Clairsville outscored the hosts 15-4 in earning a 62-50 triumph.
Each team only made two field goals in the final quarter, but the opportunistic Red Devils (13-8) cashed in all but two of 12 free throws, with Ryan McCort knocking down six en route to a 9-for-9 performance and a game-high 27 points.
All told, St. Clairsville went 19 of 25 from the charity stripe compared to a mere 6 of 8 for the hosts.
Avery Henry backed McCort with a dozen lightings. Drew Sefsick added nine and Will Balgo eight.
