Martins Ferry sweeps past Buckeye Local

CONNORVILLE — The Purple Riders completed the season sweep of the Panthers Tuesday afternoon on Bill Mazeroski Field, 10-5.

Colby Shriver earned the pitching win with six strikeouts and four walks.

Brayden Maine had three singles and four RBI to lead the offense. Logan Smith had a single, double and RBI, while Colin Snedeker had two singles and a like number of RBI.

Cambridge 15, Union Local 3

MORRISTOWN — The invading Bobcats broke out the bats in a big way, cruising to a five-inning victory against the Jets.

Brock Valentine picked up the mound win. Sean Perkins had a double and three RBI.

Union Local received two singles from both Tre Rex and Evan White.

Monroe Central 12, Magnolia 2

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Monroe Central received solid pitching and plenty of offense in handing the Blue Eagles a decisive setback in their season debut.

The Seminoles got impressive pitching from Auston Hogue, who struck out seven en route to the win. He also had three singles.

Wade Stoehr fueled the offense with a home run, single and three RBI. Jake Winland drove in two runs with two singles and Collin Kroll had two singles and a RBI.

Shadyside 8, Frontier 1

NEW MATAMORAS — Invading Shadyside completed the season sweep of the Cougars Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Rhys Francis picked up his second pitching win of the season with eight strikeouts and three walks.

Offensively, the Tigers were led by Korey Beckett who had a double, single and drove in a run. Nate Milhoan had two singles and a RBI. Gage Joseph drove in a run with a base hit as did Alex Baker. Catcher Ryan Florence had a double and single.
