Prep Roundup: Buckeye picks up first win; Bellaire girls prevail
CONNORVILLE — Buckeye Local broke out the bats and broke into the win column in the process, presenting head coach Jeffery Patrick with his first victory by an 8-7 count.
The Panthers received solid pitching from junior Matt Scott, who picked up the win. He struck out seven and walked one. He also had a single, double and a RBI. Corey Olinski added a RBI single.
Bellaire received a single and two RBI from Jake Heatherington. Brayden Roth and Kaden Banal both drove in a run with a single. Senior Vince Patrone doubled.
Shadyside 13, Shenandoah 5
SARAHSVILLE — Invading Shadyside had seven doubles against Zeps pitching and scored nine runs in their final two at bats to remain undefeated.
Frosh Tyler Stottlemyer picked up the mound win in relief, fanning six and walking one.
Senior Jordan Joseph — the lead-off hitter — had a double, two singles to spark the offense. Catcher Ryan Florence had a double, single and drove in three. Alex Baker produced two singles and four RBI. Nate Milhoan had two doubles and two RBI.
River 14, Beallsville 4
BEALLSVILLE — The Pilots presented new skipper Tim Blue with his first victory Tuesday, posting a mercy-rule victory against the Blue Devils.
Carter Dennis and Jake Rose each had two singles and Elijah Wayt had a single and a double.
Barnesville 16, Caldwell 0
CALDWELL — Barnesville bounced back from its first loss in impressive fashion, posting a big win over the Redskins.
Jake Edwards was untouchable on the mound. He spun a no hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks. He also had a single, double and three RBI.
Other offensive firepower was supplied by Gavin Carpenter, who had two singles and three RBI. Ayden Hannahs posted three singles and three RBI. Kyvan Johnson had two singles and Kason Powell drove in two runs with two singles.

Shadyside 14, Frontier 8
AT NEW MATAMORAS, the Tigers (2-2) overcame 10 errors — 5 in one inning — in outscoring the Cougars.
Gentry Brown paced Shadyside’s 15-hit attack with two singles, a double, a triple and two runs batted in. Kylie Jo Baker also drove in two runs with a single and home run. Bella Honeywell slugged a two-run homer and Mary Smith singled twice to plate a pair. Rylie Fulton, the winning pitcher in relief, singled and doubled. Mady Violet had a pair of singles and an RBI.
Bellaire 9, Buckeye Local 4
AT CONNORVILLE, the Big Reds (4-3) received 11 strikeouts from Jayden Lowe who only permitted two singles.
Sophie Porter (triple), Taylor Menendez (single) and Grace Maupin all knocked in two runs each for the winners. Lizzie McAninch drove in a run with two singles and a double. Lowe singled in a run.
Josey Meddles had two RBI for the Panthers. Alexa Williams had one.
Edison 16, St. Clairsville 9
AT RICHMOND, the Red Devils (1-2) blew a big lead for the second straight day as the Wildcats rallied from a 5-0 deficit to post the victory.
Abby Salisbury highlighted St. Clairsville’s five-run first inning with the team’s third grand slam in as many contests. Dekotah Namack smacked a three-run dinger and a single while Hannah Thoburn singled twice and tripled. Jenna Jaskowiak had an RBI single.
Edison received two singles and a home run from winning pitcher Audry Scott that accounted for six runs. Anna Christoff singled twice and slugged a three-run homer.
Shenandoah 11, Barnesville 1
AT BARNESVILLE, the Zeps scored at least one run in all five innings in routing the Shamrocks at Memorial Park.
Jayln Skinner had Barnesville’s lone RBI. Shayla Hunter and Mackenzie Shultz each doubled.
Cambridge 23, Barnesville 0
CAMBRIDGE — The host Bobcats handed the Shamrocks a lopsided setback, capping a weeknight doubleheader.
The Shamrocks were limited to three singles and committed eight errors.
