St. Clairsville Post 159 wins weekend tourney

GREENSBURG, Pa. — St. Clairsville American Legion Post 159 captured the Atlantic Coast Baseball Tournament by going 3-0-1 over the weekend at Seton Hill University.

Post 159 (6-1-1) and the Pittsburgh Select were both 3-0 entering the final game Sunday afternoon. However, after the locals drew even in the bottom of the seventh inning, the umpires walked off the field, leaving both teams at 3-0-1.

After much discussion between tournament organizers, Post 159 was declared the winners by the virtutre of giving up the least amount of runs.

St. Clairsville defeated the Pittsburgh Sliders 9-7 on Friday and posted an 8-2 decision over Premier Ohio on Saturday.

Mason Myers, a sophomore-to-be at St. Clairsville High School, swung a hot bat, going 6-for-7 with two triples, a double and four runs batted in.

Due to the OVAC All-Star game being rained out Monday night, the Barnesville at St. Clairsville game scheduled for tonight has been postponed.

Post 159 will compete in the New Era Classic Thursday through Sunday. It opens play at 9 a.m. Thursday against TCT Kings H.S. at Mylan Park in Morgantown. It is right back in action at 11:15 against the Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs Black.
